About this service

Your existing pool, made new.

A swimming pool refurbishment brings an existing pool back to full working order and updates how it looks. That can mean a new liner, a tiled or fibreglass finish, re-piping, a new plant room, a modern heating system, a new cover, or all of these together.

We run refurbishments from start to finish. Anthony assesses the pool, agrees what needs doing and what you would like to change, then manages every stage, including any specialist contractors, so you have one point of contact throughout.

It is for owners whose pool is losing water, looks faded or cracked, costs too much to heat, or has equipment from another era. It is also common after buying a house with a neglected pool. Professional help matters because a refurbishment touches structure, plumbing, electrics and finishes at once; getting the order and the detail right is what makes the result last.

If it's ignored

The cost of putting it off.

Ageing pools tend to fail in several places at once. Waiting usually widens the job.

Water loss and ground damage

A failing liner or cracked shell lets water escape into the ground. You pay to keep topping up and heating fresh water, and the surrounding ground can soften or wash out.

Rising running costs

Old pumps and heaters use far more energy than modern equivalents. Every season on outdated plant is money spent for no benefit.

Finishes beyond repair

Small cracks, loose tiles and liner wrinkles can be patched early. Left too long, the finish has to come off entirely before anything can be fixed.

A pool nobody uses

A pool that looks tired or is unreliable stops being used, but still costs money to maintain, and drags down the appeal of the garden and the house.

Watch out for

Common mistakes we see

  • Replacing the liner without checking the pipework and plant behind it
  • Choosing the cheapest quote that leaves out preparation work
  • Refurbishing in stages with different contractors who don't coordinate
  • Fitting new finishes on a shell that hasn't been properly assessed

What you get

The difference you'll notice.

One person accountable

One point of contact from first visit to handover, including any contractors needed.

Delivered on the agreed budget

Customers have told us their refurbishment came in on time and within budget, not a pound out.

Lower running costs

Modern plant and heating, properly sized, cost less to run than the equipment they replace.

A pool that holds water

New finishes and pipework stop the slow losses that waste water, heat and chemicals.

A finish you choose

Liner, tiled or fibreglass, chosen to suit how you use the pool, the look you want and your budget.

Ready to service

Once refurbished, the pool can move straight onto a service plan so it stays that way.

In detail

Everything a refurbishment can include.

Most refurbishments combine several of the following. The site visit decides which your pool needs.

Vinyl liner replacement

Liners fade, wrinkle and eventually leak. A new liner is measured to your pool and fitted after the walls and floor are prepared. Many patterns and thicknesses are available, and it is often the most cost-effective way to transform a liner pool.

Tiled finishes

Tiles and mosaics give a premium, hard-wearing finish. Refurbishing a tiled pool can involve replacing loose or cracked tiles, regrouting, or a complete retile, including steps, waterline and copings.

Fibreglass finishes

A fibreglass finish creates a smooth, watertight surface over a sound shell. It suits pools where a seamless, low-maintenance finish is the priority.

Re-piping

Old pipework can leak underground or restrict flow. Re-piping restores circulation and removes a common hidden cause of water loss.

Plant rooms and heating

New pumps, filters, valves, dosing and heating systems, laid out so they are efficient and easy to service. Heat pumps and modern heaters can be fitted as part of the work.

Covers and surrounds

New covers keep heat in, debris out and reduce chemical use. Refurbishments can also include replacing surrounds and copings, as customers have had done alongside their pool.

Domestic and commercial pools

Home pools usually prioritise finish and comfort. Commercial pools put more weight on durability, throughput and downtime. We work on both and plan the order of works accordingly.

Above-ground pools

Above-ground pools are often turned away by other pool companies. We work on them too.

FAQs

Swimming Pool Refurbishment: your questions.

Can't see yours? Call 07879 067691.

How much does a pool refurbishment cost?

It depends entirely on what's involved; a liner swap is a very different job from a full retile, re-pipe and new plant room. The site visit and quote are free, and you can tell Anthony your budget so the quote is built around it.

How long does a refurbishment take?

It depends on the scope and on lead times for liners, tiles and equipment. You'll get an expected timeline with your quote.

Should I choose a liner, tiles or fibreglass?

Each has trade-offs in look, cost and upkeep. Anthony will explain which suit your pool's shell and how you use it.

Can you work to a fixed budget?

Yes. Tell us what you want to spend and we'll quote to it. One customer's project was delivered on budget as agreed, not a pound out.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes. Guarantee terms vary by the type of work and whether it's done in-house or by a specialist contractor. They are confirmed in writing with your quote.

Can you replace the plant room and heating at the same time?

Yes. New plant rooms and heating systems are a common part of our refurbishments.

Do you refurbish above-ground pools?

Yes, we work on above-ground pools as well as in-ground ones.

Which areas do you cover?

Surrey, Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and London, from our base near Pulborough, West Sussex.
